CAC / AIR 351 GRANT 2024

AiR 351 and the Municipality of Torres Vedras have developed a partnership towards implementing a program of art residencies within the Centro de Artes e Criatividade (CAC), held at its headquarters and managed by AiR 351.

Following a similar model as in Cascais, AiR 351 / CAC – Torres Vedras program will also pursue to be strongly rooted in the context while connected with partners, organisations and interlocutors from the region and beyond.

This call is targeted at artists and curators from all countries at any stage of practice. Exception: current or past residents at AiR 351.

Selection criteria includes quality of the work; potential outreach of the residence; ability to benefit from an experience in Torres Vedras.

 GENERAL PROGRAM

AiR 351 is an independent international visual arts residency program established in 2016. Its headquarters are located in Cascais, Lisbon region.

AiR 351´s praxis follows a collaborative model and its team works closely with each resident in a highly supportive environment. Through institutional partnerships AiR 351´s activities encompass a variety of contexts such as museums, universities and art schools.

AiR 351 will manage all stages of the selection process, provide technical and curatorial support for all residents and organize private and public programs.

  • Each resident will have access to an individual studio (c. 30 sq. meters) at CAC´s headquarters;

  • Program: integration in the local artistic community, technical and curatorial assistance, possibility of working within AiR 351 partners network and regular studio visits; organisation of open studios, public presentations, when possible and one yearly exhibition;

  • Minimum length of each residency: 3 months for an artist and 1 month for a curator.

  • Regular member fee to access the program – 500 euros. This amount includes accommodation.

 GRANT

While launching this new program we take the opportunity to offer one grant for an artist or curator in residence for a period of 3 months during 2024 at CAC´s headquarters in Torres Vedras. This is the 1st edition of the AiR 351 / CAC grant.

The residence period at AiR 351 Torres Vedras should occur during 2024. Exact dates will be determined between the selected candidate and the organisations.

The AiR 351 / CAC Grant 2024 recipient will benefit from:

  • A grant of 1100 euros/month to cover living expenses, for a period of 3 months;

  • Accommodation at walking distance from CAC (2 minutes);

  • Besides that, the grant will also cover the fees for the artist / curator to be a member of AiR 351 during that period.

APPLICATION PROCESS

All application documents must be included on the same file (1 document only, 10 MB max):

  • Personal information (contacts)

  • Letter of motivation including a brief description of current practice, statement of intent and goal of the residency (500 words max.);

  • Curriculum Vitae;

  • Portfolio

  • Optional: letters of recommendation (3 max.)

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND

  • All materials of application should be written in English, once the Selection Committee is international.

  • Only digital material is accepted;

  • Candidates should be proficient in spoken and written English;

  • Candidates should not be enrolled in another residency during the same period;

  • After the residency (max. 1 month after the end date) the artist should send to AiR 351 a report about the activities developed.

 AiR 351 will do its best to announce the results by May 31st, 2024.
