Curator at Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein
Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein is an open space for engaging with people and art. As a museum of modern and contemporary art, it operates in exchange with a network of regional and international partners.
To strengthen its dedicated team, the museum is seeking a:
Curator (full-time)
Starting January 1, 2026, or by arrangement.
The curator will work closely with the Director and the museum team, playing a central role in the development and research of exhibitions, publications, and events. They will be independently responsible for specific projects from conception to implementation and will actively contribute their curatorial expertise to collaborative processes, including the ongoing development of the contemporary art collection.
Tasks include:
– Independent development and implementation of monographic and thematic exhibitions
– Scholarly research, development, and presentation of the collection
– Collaboration on editorial content for publications (catalogues, essays, texts)
– International cooperation with artists, institutions, and partners
– Conception and implementation of exhibition-related public programmes
– Presentation and communication of the museum programme (e.g., guided tours, written content)
– Project management and budget oversight in coordination with the Director and team
– Serving as an advisory member of the Acquisition Committee
Requirements:
– University degree, preferably in art history or cultural studies
– Several years of curatorial experience, ideally in a museum context
– In-depth knowledge of contemporary art and current curatorial discourse
– Experience with collections and public education
– Leadership skills or experience leading curatorial projects and exhibitions
– High degree of independence, flexibility, and structured working
– Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
– Excellent written and spoken German and English; additional languages are a plus
– Willingness to relocate to the region
