Wilhelmina’s is delighted to announce the gallery’s arrival at the Adelphi Art House, London’s newest cultural hub. Combining exhibition and event spaces with wine bars, coworking, and a programme of cultural events, the Adelphi Art House embodies a new generation of cultural spaces where art is experienced alongside social and everyday life.
For the Adelphi Art House’s inaugural exhibition Wilhelmina’s will present Journey to the Oracle, a group show featuring painting, sculpture, photography, performance and digital art by fourteen international artists:

The Oracle at Delphi looms large in the imagination. Who were these sacred women of supreme authority through whom the god Apollo prophesized to mortals for over a millennium? Their revelations were sought by the rich and the powerful, (“a great army shall fall!”), however, through the course of Delphi’s long history the Oracle was also visited by ordinary people with questions of a more personal nature regarding their career and family prospects, their health, or in the case of slaves whether they would be free one day. Some questions were endearingly relatable: would a fortune lost or stolen ever be returned? Would they marry the person they loved?
Visiting the oracle was divided into six stages: The Journey | Purification | Sacrifice | Petition | Visit to the Oracle. The artists’ works mirror the stages of the pilgrimage and embody themes connected to some of the famous maxims uttered by the Oracle at Delphi such as “Know Thyself” and “Surety is Ruin”.
The exhibition brings together emerging and established artists working across a striking range of media and approaches: from painting and sculpture rooted in art-historical traditions, to photography, performance, digital and immersive works. Moving between traditional and contemporary styles, the contemplative and the playful, the works offer different points of entry into the exhibition’s central themes, connecting the Ancient World to the present and offering (or do they?) glimpses of the future.
During the opening, Eva Mitala, will give a performance of “High Priestess,” an online Tarot reading session live from San Francisco. The artist’s hand-painted tarot deck will be on display and, in complete confidence, the visitor will be able to send their question through Signal accompanied by a photograph of the cards they drew. What she reveals can be remain between you and the High Priestess or written down in the visitor’s book to be shared with the public.
About Wilhelmina’s
Initiated in 2023 by IKT Member Wilhelmina von Blumenthal, Wilhelmina’s is an emerging nomadic gallery located from June – September on the island of Hydra in Greece, with a focus on young and mid-career artists. In the winter Wilhelmina’s focus is on pop ups and fairs. The artists exhibited share in common themes related to dreams, mythology and nature with a focus on figurative art.
