27 September 2025, 14:00–17:00 (UTC+2)
Øst for Paradis, Aarhus, Denmark

As part of the group exhibition From the Ground Up (22 August – 10 October 2025) at Galleri Image, we invite you to join us for the one-day symposium From the Ground Up – Conversations with Land, History, and Community on 27 September 2025 at Øst for Paradis – Art Cinema.

Spend the day with the participating artists and curator in a series of conversations exploring their creative practices and the stories that inspired the works in the exhibition. The event also offers a rare opportunity to experience a curated selection of the artists’ short films in a proper cinema setting.

The speakers are:

Laeïla Adjovi (Benin/France)
Aideen Barry (Ireland)
Adrian L. Burrell (USA)
Rehab Eldalil (Egypt)
Tobi Onabolu (Nigeria/UK)
Tshepiso Moropa (South Africa)

The symposium will be moderated by IKT Member Peggy Sue Amison (Ireland/USA), curator of From the Ground Up.

The exhibition and seminar are supported by the New Carlsberg Foundation, the city of Aarhus (Kulturudviklingspuljen), the Danish Arts Foundation, the Obel Family Foundation, the Louis-Hansen Foundation, the Augustinus Foundation, East Wing and Culture Ireland.
